Aberfeldy Scotch Whisky
Aberfeldy Scotch whisky distillery lies in a beautiful setting 1 mile east of Aberfeldy town on the south bank of the river Tay. A rare colony of red squirrel occupies the nearby woodland and is depicted on the new label.
The distillery was constructed in 1896 by John Dewar & Sons Ltd and went into production in 1898. Fresh spring water from the Pitile Burn is used in the production of the whisky.
In 1998 John Dewar & Sons Ltd and Aberfeldy distillery was purchased by Barcardi Ltd. from Diageo PLC. The substantial redundant maltings building was converted into a whisky visitor centre with an emphasis on the history of the firm of Dewar’s rather than the process of distilling.
