Macduff (Glen Deveron) Scotch Whisky

The Macduff Scotch whisky distillery is one of the few distilleries to give its single malt a different name from its own. The malt takes its name from the nearby River Deveron from which it draws the water used for cooling in the production process. The Gelly Burn is the distilling water source used by the distillery

The distillery is situated to the east of Banff on the east bank of the River Deveron, about half a mile from the Moray Firth. The distillery was built in 1962 by a consortium of businessmen which included George Crawford, Morty Dykes and Brodie Hepburn

In 1966 the two stills were extended to three, in 1968 to four, and in 1990 to five.

Acquired by William Lawson in 1972, which in turn became part of the General Beverage Corporation, the Luxembourg Company that manages Martini & Rossi's global interests now a subsidiary of Bacardi Limited.

In 1992 Bacardi transferred Macduff to the subsidiary John Dewer & Sons.
